Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.
Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.
His varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and eventually splitting with former mentor Cervara.
Presently working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over challenger Moutet.
It is the player's initial trophy after the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after that period of that year.
Success also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," said world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his past six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.
Medvedev's defensive play style and frequent outbursts on court had caused commentators to question if his skill to compete at the top level was over.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and play positively, supported by an improved serve.
Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the final five points to take the lead.
Both players exchanged break points in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first professional victory, took control to force a decider.
The opponent saved four early break points in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched victory with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
