Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the main group to embark on their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group features Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might appear out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to go next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his obligations and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the party reach locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Fans can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
